NAWL moved forward with a number of exciting projects in the last year.
In 2010-2011, a significant focus was given to returning to our grass roots and working with young feminists on university campuses. We kicked off the fall with a speaking tour of 8 law faculty campuses by NAWL’s National Director, Julie Shugarman. This tour helped re-connect the organization with the work of feminist law students across the country and provided the basis for a National Leadership Summit in February. The summit, hosted at the University of Ottawa with the generous support of the Shirley E. Greenberg Chair for Women and the Legal Profession, gathered 20 dynamic young feminists from across the country for three-days of workshops on effective advocacy, legal writing, media relations and organizing skills. A report on the Summit is available on our website.
